After a week of pneumonia and one of otitis I really need to relax a bit and my best medicine in the world is the bike. The weather was not at all good, but the weather forecast for Sunday gives partially sunny and no rain. Saturday afternoon after checking the weather conditions once again I decide to organize a nice motorcycle ride. Sunday at 09.00 we are four ready for this new adventure. The temperature is around 5 degrees. The long-awaited sun is not seen but at least it peeks through the clouds a couple of times. After fifty kilometers, partly on unpaved roads, we reach the splendid setting of Häckeberga mill, the ruins of the old mill inside the nature reserve. The rains have swelled the river a lot and the waterfalls that brought water to the old mill are a real sight. Here right on the river bank in the equipped area we take a break for the inevitable coffee and orange cake. Shooting the motorbikes we travel long off-road journeys through the Klingavälsån nature reserve between the Kranke and Vomb lakes. After about fifty kilometers we arrive near Bjärsjölagård to visit the two old kilns for the production of lime with the singular name, Adam and Eve! In 1865, large German-made furnaces were erected. But in 1900 one of the kilns was destroyed by a fire and was replaced by a much larger Danish production than the previous one which was called Eva. Production was stopped in 1940. Shooting the bikes we travel about ten kilometers to reach a historic site Slaget vid Borst. A bloody battle took place here between Harlösa and Övedskloster on 25 March 1644. On the one hand, Swedish troops, composed of a cavalry unit with 300 cavalrymen under the command of Major General Hans Wachtmeister, sent to procure supplies for the army that were at the Bjärsjölagård and the Övedskloster and for which it was necessary to cross the Borst stream to reach them and on the other the Danish invasion troops. An army of about 500 poorly equipped peasants with only two three-pound cannons tried to repel the Swedes but were totally annihilated. We stop at the old bridge to eat something. The bikes started again about a kilometer from the bridge and after a short walk in the woods we reach the hill overlooking the Borst stream where the holes where the battle cannons were housed are still visible. The place is very impressive. We travel a few kilometers off-road to reach Lake Vomb where we have a pleasant meeting. At the edge of the forest a nice group of fallow deer including many albino specimens. Immediately afterwards we reach the Harlösa Petrol & Service an old service station from the 1950s very unique, for the nostalgic with old cars, various objects, tractors and even an old telephone booth. We return home, it starts to rain but now it does not matter. Until next time.
